SplitSix started at university, on the side of a poker table.
Our games ran for hours — and if you play, you know how much of that time you spend card-dead. Folding hand after hand, waiting for something worth playing while the action passes you by. You're still at the table, still buying in, but you're not really in it.
So we started playing a second game on the side. It had to fit around the poker, not interrupt it: quick to deal, quick to settle, and — this was the whole point — an actual decision, not a coin flip. We wanted to keep something small riding on every round without leaving the table, and we didn't want luck to be the whole story.
That's how SplitSix took shape. Six cards, split into three hands, played across three boards — every round you choose how to divide your cards and when to spend each hand. The stakes stayed small. The control was yours. Even when the deck forgot you existed, you always had a hand of your own to play.
Years later I rebuilt it properly as the game you're playing now.
