We believe in being straightforward about your data. We collect limited information to run SplitSix, improve it, and (where you've agreed) send you relevant offers. We never sell your data.

2. What Data We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

Email address — used to identify your account and, where consented, to send you communications.
Display name — shown in multiplayer games.
Password — stored as a secure one-way hash (we cannot read it).
Subscription status — whether you hold an active ad-free subscription.
Marketing consent — whether you have opted in to receive promotional communications.

We also automatically collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and performance purposes. These are retained for up to 90 days.

3. Why We Process Your Data (Legal Bases)

Performance of a contract — We need your email and account details to provide the SplitSix service, manage your subscription, and restore your ad-free status when you return.

Legitimate interests — We process certain data based on our legitimate business interests, balanced against your rights. This includes:

Improving and securing the game through analytics and server logs.
Preventing fraud and abuse.
Understanding how the game is played to make it better.
Sending you information about poker strategy, lessons, and SplitSix updates where we reasonably believe these are relevant to you as a player (you can opt out at any time).

Consent — Where you have ticked the marketing consent box during registration, we (and carefully selected partners) may send you:

Poker tips, strategy guides, and lesson offers.
Occasional promotional offers from trusted third-party partners (such as online poker training platforms or poker-related products).

You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing us or clicking "unsubscribe" in any marketing email. Withdrawing consent does not affect any processing carried out before withdrawal.

4. How We Use Your Data

To operate your account and deliver the game service.
To process and remember your ad-free subscription status.
To personalise your multiplayer experience (your display name).
To send transactional emails (e.g. account confirmation).
To send marketing communications where consented or based on legitimate interest.
To improve the game through anonymised analytics.
To comply with legal obligations.

5. Third-Party Advertising

Users who have not purchased an ad-free subscription may see advertisements within the game. These ads may be served by third-party advertising partners. Our advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver relevant ads based on your interests. We ensure any such partners operate under appropriate data processing agreements.

You can go ad-free at any time for a one-off payment of £2.99, which removes all advertising permanently on your account.

6. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

Payment processors — Stripe handles payments. Your card details are never seen by us.
Hosting and infrastructure providers — our servers and database are hosted on secure cloud infrastructure.
Marketing partners — only where you have given explicit consent, and only email address for communication purposes.
Law enforcement — if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.

7. Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Withdraw consent for marketing at any time.

9. Cookies

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted passwords (bcrypt), HTTPS, and secure session handling. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously.

11. Children

SplitSix is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
